Very few Palestinians are fortunate enough to have adequate health insurance, while the rest are not covered at all. Because of the acute humanitarian situation, most people are not able to buy essential medicines or have needed medical exams. The Shepherd Society receives applications from persons who are in urgent need of medicine, medical exams, or medical treatments. The direct result is the improved health of the person who is ill, and the prevention of diminishing health due to of lack of treatment. Another positive result is improved family care. In the future, the Shepherd Society would like to be able to help persons who need operations.
