- One heart-breaking story was related to us by a Shepherd Society colleague who had gone to a home to deliver a food certificate. As she raised her hand to knock at the door, she overheard a child crying inside. The little girl was telling her mother that all she wanted to have was a piece of bread. The mother, upon answering the knock, looked at the certificate in disbelief and thanked God for answering her prayers.
- A child, after having received an explanation for how the food certificates should be used, told his mother: “Finally you are going to cook chicken for us this coming Sunday!” We learned that the family had not been able to afford meat of any kind for more than two months.
